In Found Abstractions, I photograph unexpected compositions that emerge from the accumulation of paint, repairs, erasures, weathering, and other alterations to everyday surfaces. Created for purposes generally unrelated to art, these interventions produce surprising relationships of color, texture, and form that often resemble abstract paintings.
My interest lies in recognizing the unintended artistry of these surfaces, where ordinary acts of maintenance, concealment, and change create compositions that were never consciously designed.
